ABOUT ME

About Me

Hi! My name is Caroline Bae, and I am currently a high school junior from Boston, Massachusetts. Welcome to The Intersection!

On any day of the week, you can probably find me playing field hockey, spending time with my friends, or reading up on feminist and philosophical thought!

My interest in feminism has grown in the past few years largely due to the research I have conducted for speech and debate tournaments. While researching topics for my persuasive speech, I simply googled "The World's Biggest Problems" and was surprised to learn that women are disproportionately affected by many issues, including climate change, poverty, and the immigration process, in addition to the more well-known issues of gender equality and education access. I knew I had to learn more, and I have scoured the internet for books and articles on feminism ever since.

As for philosophy, when I was younger, I don't think I truly knew what the term philosophy meant, but I have always been interested in thinking about the workings of the world and advocating for fairness and justice. Upon further research, I have realized that philosophy, put simply, is a way of thinking about our role in the world around us.

Over time, I realized both how important and how underpublicized the overlap is between the fields of feminism and philosophy. I created this blog to share my exploration of these topics in hopes of educating and inspiring others. While I am no expert, I believe that my research has given me valuable insights and information to share.

Welcome to The Intersection! I hope you enjoy!
